컴퓨터와 헤드셋만 있으면 오케이 집에서 떠나는 어학연수 케빈입니다. 우리가 그동안 하이티처를 통해 발음에 대해 공부를 해봤는데요. 이번시간엔 우리가 잘 놓치고 있는 발음에 대해 알아보도록 하겠습니다. 지금 바로 필리핀 현지로 화상 연결을 해보도록 하겠습니다.

◀CONVERSATION▶
Kevin Hi, Teacher! How are you? (선생님 안녕하세요~)
May Good morning, Kevin! I am good. How about you? (좋은 아침에에요 케빈~ 난 좋아요 당신은요?)

Kevin I am fine. I am hoping to have a happy class today. (아주 좋아요. 나는 당신이 오늘 수업이 재밌길 바라고 있어요)
May Well, Let us do our best. Now, shall we start with our lesson? We are going to study pronunciation today. (좋아요. 최선을 다해보죠. 그럼 지금, 우리의 수업을 시작해 볼까요? 오늘 우리는 발음에 대해서 공부할 거에요.)

Kevin Oh, pronunciation! I am better at pronunciation than Mr. Jung. “Battery” (American and British; speak confidently) What can you say now? (오! 발음은 제가 미스터 정의 “배터리” 발음 보다 잘 할 수 있어요. (영국식 미국식 번갈아가며) 당신이 말 해봐요!)

May Wow! A little bit better than Mr. Jung. That’s our secret! But I think you still need to fix something. (와우. 미스터 정보다 아주 조금 더 잘 하네요. 우리의 비밀이에요. 그러나 나는 당신이 좀 교정이 필요해 보이네요)
Kevin What do you mean? (그게 무슨 말이죠?)

May Accent! (액센트에요!)
May Koreans are commonly not good when it comes to accent. When it comes to being a native speaker, it is not only about how strong or weak your voice may be. You also need to consider proper pronunciation. Proper stress! We need to consider a lot of details. It will have a lot of influences. So, accent has a lot of importance. (한국 사람들은 대부분 액센트를 잘 넣지 못해요. 원어민들이 말을 할 때는 목소리 뿐 아니라 강함과 약함도 같이 말을 해요. 당신도 그렇게 하도록 노력해야 해요. 강세를 더욱! 우리는 더 많은 디테일 함이 필요해요. 이건 굉장히 많은 영향을 줘요. 그래서 액센트는 굉장히 주요하요)

Kevin Give me example please. (예시를 주세요)
May Try to pronounce the word “accent”. (“accent”를 발음해 보세요)
Kevin “accent”
May Oh! Let me check that. The stress should be on the first syllable “accent” (proper way) (오! 다시 체크해 봐요. 첫 번째 음절에 힘을 줘서 “accent”라고 해야해요)
Kevin “accent”

May Good! Now, let us try using this word in a sentence. How about this one? (show on the VD board –“I want to sound like a native speaker so I need to get the right accent.” (좋아요. 지금 우리가 문장 속 단어를 이용해 연습해 봐요. 이건 어때요?)
Kevin Wow! Teacher, it’s a long sentence! Please speak first. (와우! 선생님 너무 긴 문장이에요. 먼저 읽어 주세요)
May “I want to sound like a native speaker so I need to get the right accent.” Okay, Kevin! It’s your turn! (“I want to sound like a native speaker so I need to get the right accent.” 케빈, 당신의 차례 입니다)

Kevin “I want to sound like a native speaker so I need to get the right accent.”(make a mistake: /ah-sent/) (“I want to sound like a native speaker so I need to get the right accent.”)

May One more time please, Kevin. (한 번만 더요. 케빈)
Kevin “I want to sound like a native speaker so I need to get the right accent.” (“I want to sound like a native speaker so I need to get the right accent.”)
May Very good! Now that sounded better! (아주 잘 했어요. 훨씬 좋아요)
Kevin I think so too! Thank you! (내 생각도 그래요 고마워요)
May See! After you tried an accent when you speak, you sounded close to a native speaker. Don’t forget that accent is very important. (좋아요. 말을 할 때 액센트에 대해 노력하면, 더 원어민 발음과 비슷하게 말 할 수 있어요. 액센트가 굉장히 중요하다는 것 잊지 마세요)

Kevin Yes! I will practice harder to sound like a native speaker. (네! 연습을 많이 해서 꼭 원어민처럼 말을 해보도록 할게요)
May That’s the spirit, Kevin! Well, our time is up. I will see you on our next class. See you! (wave hand) (좋아요 케빈, 우리의 시간은 끝이 났네요. 우리 다음 시간에 봐요 안녕~)
Kevin Thank you, teacher! Bye! Thank you!
