Hi! English Teacher는 생활정보교육 프로그램으로, 민트영어 정명진 매니저와 화상·전화영어 현지전문가가 직접 출연해 ‘집에서 떠나는 어학연수’를 경험하게 도와주는 영상뉴스입니다. 색다른 영어 교육 프로그램의 시작으로 온라인 영상프로그램의 새로운 장을 선보이며, 시청자들의 지식교양을 고취시키도록 하는 프로그램입니다.

Mark Hello, Mr. Jung! How are you doing today? (안녕 오늘 기분 어때?)
Jung Doing great! How about you? (좋아요. 선생님은요?)
Mark So far, so good! (나도 좋아)
Jung Teacher, maybe I’m the one to bring the topic for today. (오늘 제가 주제를 가져오기로 했죠.)

Mark Really? What is it? (그래? 어떤 거야?)
Jung Mint Pain. I want to talk about the Mint Pain. (Mint Pain이요. Mint pain을 말하고 싶어요.)
Mark Pain? What do you mean? Sounds like a problem to me! (고통? 무슨 의미에요? 마치 나한테 문제가 있다는 거 같아!)
Jung Oh, no! Please don’t think that way. Actually, it’s Korean language which means good way.(아니에요! 그렇게 생각하지 마세요. 사실 한국어로는 좋은 의미라구요.)
Mark What does it mean? (무슨 의미인데?)
Jung Mint Pain means the people who are addicted and surf the Mint English website all day and night! (Mint Pain의 의미는 민트영어에 중독되어서 하루종일 민트영어 홈페이지에 눌러사는 사람을 말하는 거예요!)

Mark Aha! So people who are addicted to the Mint English website are called Mint Pain.(민트 영어 웹사이트에 푹 빠진 사람을 민트폐인이라고 부르는 거구나.)
Jung Yes, that’s right! They are called Mint Pain. (맞아요. 그런 사람들을 민트폐인 이라고 부르죠.)
Mark Now, that’s a new word added to my vocabulary. Thank you! (내 사전에 새로운 단어로 탑재시켜야겠다. 고마워!)
Jung Anyway, Our Mint Pain told me that they are having a hard time to memorize vocabularies because they always forget after they memorize them. Can you give them some advice?(mint pain들이 말하기를 영어단어를 암기하는데 어려움을 겪는다고 하더라고요. 왜냐하면 단어를 외우고 나면 잊어버리기 때문이라네요. 혹시 조언을 좀 해 주실 수 있으신가요?)

Mark Okay, let me give a tip on how to memorize vocabulary words better. (좋아요, 영어 단어를 잘 외우는 팁을 알려줄게.)
Jung Please tell me. Please help them. (네 알려주세요.)
Mark Instead of memorizing plain words, they should try using them in sentences and memorize them as well! (단어를 그냥 외우지 말고, 단어를 문장에 넣어서 사용한 다음, 그 문장 자체를 통으로 외우려고 노력해야 한다!)

Jung Oh really? But I think that’s more difficult! (그래요? 그게 더 어려운 거 같은데.)
Mark For example, the word is “abandon”. It means to give up. Now, they can use it in a sentence by saying “The father abandoned his son.” This will make them easily memorize the word “ abandon” (단어 ‘abandon’를 예로 들어볼게. 포기한다는 의미지. 그럼 그 단어를 넣어서 “아버지는 그의 아들을 포기했다.”라는 문장을 만들 수 있어. 이렇게 하면 ‘abandon’이란 단어를 쉽게 외울 수 있지.)

Jung Oh, yes! Now I understand that is better! I can always remember the meaning if I use in a sentence too! (맞네요. 이제 이해가 되네요. 더 좋은 방법이네요! 문장에 넣어서 단어를 외우면 그 뜻을 항상 기억할 수 있겠네요.)
Mark Yes that’s right. Here in Mint, we have what we call the Brainwash Event. Are you aware of this program? (그렇지. 민트영어에서는 ‘brainwash event’라는 프로그램이 있어. 그 프로그램에 대해서 알고 있어?)

Jung Brainwash Event? No. But I am interested. What is it? (’brainwash event‘요? 아뇨 몰랐어요. 그렇지만 관심이 가네요. 그게 뭔가요?)
Mark In the Brainwash Event, a student is asked to memorize 150 sentences and if they pass, they can have one month of free Phone English classes, this way they can save their money and also improve their English skills, isn’t that amazing? (학생들에게 150개의 문장을 외우게 한 후 그들이 시험에 합격하면, 한 달 무료 화상영어와 전화영어 수업을 들을 수 있는 거야. 이렇게 하면 학생들은 학원비를 줄일 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 영어 스킬도 늘지. 정말 좋은 프로그램이지?)

Jung Wow! I like that, but 150 sentences are so difficult to memorize! (맘에 들어요. 그런데 150 문장을 외우는 건 정말 어려울 거 같네요.)
