안녕하세요. Hi Teacher~ 심재민입니다. 성년의 날이 되면 각종 선물을 주고 받으며 성인이 된 설레는 마음에 기쁜 하루를 보내는데요. 성인 이 된 만큼 특별한 의미도 되새겨야겠죠. 오늘은 미국과 우리나라의 성년의 날을 비교해보며 성년의 날 의미를 되짚어보도록 하겠습니다. 자 그럼 컴퓨터와 헤드셋 준비하시고 지금 바로 필리핀 현지로 떠나보죠~. 출발~~

J(제이) Coming-of –age day? What is it? (성년의 날이요? 그게 뭔가요? )
Mark Coming-of-age day is the day when someone enters adulthood. (성년의 날이란 성인이 되는 날을 말해요.)

J(제이) Ah! The day of entering adulthood! Yes, I know it now! Today’s topic is coming-of-age day, am I right? (오! 성인이 되는 날! 아하! 오늘 주제가 성년의 날이군요. 맞나요?)
Mark Yeah! You are right! Well, coming of the age is not just only about enjoying it but the day to remind a person that she/he has responsibilities in the society. J(제이) Yes, teacher! We ritual performance for those who are already 19 years old in international age. When someone turn 19 in Korea we give them three kinds of gifts. No ritual performance anymore. Mark In Philippine and American culture, we take coming-of-age day with a simple celebration. We have the celebration if someone turns 18. We have dinner with our family and friends. Sometimes, roses are given and there’s dancing. (필리핀과 미국 문화에서는, 우리는 성년을 날을 간단하게 축하해요. 우리는 18살이 되는 사람을 축하해주죠. 우리는 가족과 친구들과 함께 저녁식사를 해요. 가끔은, 장미를 선물하고 춤을 추죠.)

J(제이) Oh! Now I see! 19 years in Korea. And 18 years old in the Philippines and America they are going to be adult. We have different custom. (오! 이제 알겠어요! 한국은 19살, 그리고 필리핀과 미국에서는 18살에 성인이 되는군요. 우리는 다른 풍습을 가지고 있네요.)
