[기획의도] Hi! English Teacher♡
Hi! English Teacher는 생활정보교육 프로그램으로, 시선뉴스 심재민MC와 화상·전화영어 전문 민트영어의 현지전문가가 직접 출연해 ‘집에서 떠나는 어학연수’를 경험하게 도와주는 영상뉴스입니다. 색다른 영어 교육 프로그램의 시작으로 온라인 영상프로그램의 새로운 장을 선보이며, 시청자들의 지식교양을 고취시키도록 하는 프로그램입니다.

Hi Teacher~ 심재민입니다. 그동안 하이티처에서 영어면접에 대비한 내용들을 다룬적이 있었는데요. 취업준비생들에게 아주 많은 도움이 됐다고 합니다. 그래서 이번시간은 필리핀 선생님과 영어면접을 대비한 내용을 함께 배워보도록 하겠습니다. 컴퓨터와 헤드셋만 저처럼 준비하시고, 필리핀 현지로 함께 출발해 보죠~

J(제이) Hi Teacher~ (안녕하세요)
Mark Hello “J”! Today we will go with our topic, English interview right away. I will be the interviewer and you are the interviewee. Lights, camera, action, start! (네 안녕하세요~ J. 오늘 우리의 주제는 영어면접 이에요. 바로 들어가보죠. 나는 면접관, 당신은 구직자입니다. 카메라, 액션, 스타트! )
Mark Hello J. Why are you interested in this company? (안녕하세요 J. 우리회사의 지원동기가 어떻게 되나요?)
J(제이) Yes. Since I was a young child, I was always looking forward to come here. This company leads the economy of our country and for me and my parents it is our dream so I have prepared a lot to join this company because your company s awesome. (네 저는 어려서부터 언제나 이 회사만을 바라보고 자랐습니다. 우리나라의 경제를 이끌고 있는 이 회사는 저와 저의 부모님의 꿈이었고, 그래서 전 항상 이 회사에서 입사하기 위해서 준비 했습니다.)
Mark Oh~ really! But J… This is not a place where you come to give a compliment. I want to know why are you interested in this company? (오 그랬군요. 그런데... J ... 여긴 당신이 회사의 칭찬을 하는 곳이 아니에요. 나는 당신이 왜 우리회사에 지원하게 됐는지 그 동기를 알고 싶다고요.)
J(제이) Ah… Yes, I like this company.. So…. Hmm.. (아 네, 좋아요. 나는 이 회사가 좋고 음.... )
Mark Okay. Stop it right there J. Why did you give a compliment when you were asked why are you interested in this company? (오케이 그만. 알겠어요. J~ 당신에게 회사를 지원하게 된 동기에 대해 물었는데, 왜 회사에 대한 칭찬만 하는거에요.)
J(제이) Because this company is the number 1 company in our country. Is it that a wrong reason for joining this company? (왜냐하면 이 회사는 우리나라의 넘버1 회사입니다. 내가 이 회사를 입사하고 싶다는 것이 잘못된 건가요?)
Mark Of course not. But when a company interviewer asks for a reason about why you want to join a company, it is to see how you can contribute to the progress of the company. How are you going to be an asset to the company.. (물론 잘못된 것은 아니에요. 그러나 면접관이 당신에게 지원동기를 묻는 이유는, 당신이 얼마나 일에 대해 잘 할 수 있는지 기여도에 대해 알기 위한 거에요. 얼마나 회사의 자산이 될 수 있는지 말이에요)
J(제이) Ah.. Now I get it. I will try it again. This company puts emphasis on creativity. The job I have applied for is design which needs to put emphasis on eco-friendly part. For me, I have finished my degree in "Specially purposed high school”. And then I went to university where I have learned about eco-friendly materials while making a design out of it. So now I’m aware of about this job’s duty so that is why I’m interested in to this company. (아 그렇구나. 그럼 다시 한 번 시도해 볼게요. 이 회사는 창의력을 중시합니다. 그 중 제가 지원한 디자인 업무는 창의력과 친환경 느낌이 잘 살려야 합니다. 저는 ‘특수 목적 고등학교’를 졸업했고, 대학에서 친환경 소재를 이용한 디자인을 하면서, 일에 대한 이해도를 높였습니다. 그래서 저는 이 일이 흥미가 생겼고 이 회사를 지원하게 됐습니다.)
Mark Great. You had some minor grammar mistakes though. But it was a good answer. When you talk about the motive, you have to speak about that company’s job duty and also need to show how much you are aware of that duty. That’s the part where you have to give great answer. (좋아요. 약간 문법적 오류가 있었어요. 그렇지만 좋은 답변이었어요. 당신이 동기에 대해 말을 할 때 당신은 회사의 직무에 대해 얼마나 이해하고 있는지, 당신이 얼마나 그 일에 필요한 사람인지 말해야 해요.)
J(제이) So what… I got the sentences wrong again… (그럼 뭐해요... 영어는 또 틀렸는데요.)
Mark Don’t worry. Let’s fix the wrong sentences. Let’s put it this way: This Company puts emphasis on creativity. I’m applying to be a designer that focuses on eco-friendly projects. I have finished my degree in "Specially purposed high school” and I went to a university where I have learned about eco-friendly materials while making designs out of it. So I am pretty sure that I can help this company. These are the reasons why I am interested in this company.

J(제이) Teacher, I think English interview is very hard. Even though I try so hard, I always make grammar mistakes. (선생님. 나는 영어 면접이 정말 어려운 것 같아요. 내가 아무리 노력을 해도, 문법적으로 틀린 부분이 생겨요)
Mark Oh~ J! Cheer up. It is important to show how good you are in English, but it is much more important to show you have confidence. (오 J! 기운내요. 사실 영어를 잘 하는 것도 중요하지만, 얼마나 자신감 있는 모습을 보여주는지가 더 중요해요)
J(제이) Really? Being confident is like when I practice the important expressions with you in class. (아 정말인가요? 자신감은 선생님과 함께 공부하면서 중요한 표현들을 연습하면 되잖아요.)
Mark Yes. Please remember what we have studied today. And see you next time~ (맞아요. 오늘 배운 내용, 기억해 주세요. 그럼 우리는 다음시간에 또 만나요.)
J(제이) Yes teacher. Bye~ (네 선생님 안녕~)

Why are you interested in this Company? 라는 질문에 대한 대답. 절대로 회사를 칭찬하는 자리가 아닙니다. 내가 지원한 회사와 직무에 대해 얼마나 이해하고 있고, 내가 얼마나 적임자인지에 대한 내용이 담긴 ‘동기’를 말해야 한다는 점 기억하십시오! 마지막으로 영어면접에서 가장 중요한건.. 자신감, confident라는 점도 절대 잊지 마세요! 그럼 다음 시간에 만나요~
